This is my first monthly life update. While a lot of Instagrammers / Twiterrati prefer to put out updates every time they take a dump, I wanted to keep it a little bit saner and put out life updates every month.

Those who are not interested in what’s going on in my not-so-interesting-life can simply skip to the very end of this post (and probably encounter a CTA to subscribe to my newsletter).

So, here we go! My 5 M’s of measuring life –

Mind / Mental Health

Stable. Overall, I enjoy balanced mental health. August’24 was no different. I think I am in a good mental space. Now that I have paid up my home loan and finally living debt free, I am a lot less worried. At times, I did worry about saving for the future. But these thoughts were short lived.

Although, I didnt get much time to read, I was able to re-read a few chapters of Think on These Things. Philosophy brings peace and does calm my mind.

Muscle / Physical Health

5 days a week at the gym. Not a single day at the swimming pool. Overall, a good month on the physical health side.

I still continue wearing a brace on my right leg to protect the 90% broken ACL and 2 vertical tears on the miniscus. I am contemplating about surgery, but don’t want to go in for round 2 (was operated on the left knee in January 2022). I might postpone surgery to 2025. Untill 2026, no sport ;(

FYI: Recorded a sub-80kg on the weighing scale after 2 years! Have dropped 5.7 kgs since April 6, 2024. My target is to get to sub-75kg by April 5, 2025 and retain a lot of muscle.

I forgot to mention that I got a root canal done this month. The entire process was painless. I’d like to thank Dr. Ravi & Dr. Purvi Goyal of The Dental Solutions Thane to make this smooth like butter!

Being a marketer, I pay special attention to customer service and marketing-technology used my the businesses I interact with. The Dental Solutions is using BestOSys Practice Management Software that’s beautifully integrated with WhatsApp. See below:

Must say that India’s OS is WhatsApp and most businesses are doing business on WhatsApp!

Money / Wealth

NIFTY breached 25k in August! Looks like Indian retail investors and foreign institutional investors are not hunkering down and shoring up the markets! Seems like everyone has faith in India, despite a gloomy global outlook.

August was a good month w.r.t to money. I restructed my portfolio – got rid of mutual funds that were performing sub-par and after a lot of research, I was finally able to start investing with a PMS.

I have chosen to invest with CapitalMind, considering their track record and online reviews. Here’s a snapshot of their recent performance:

Its early days in terms of evaluating performance, but I must say that the on-boarding process and marketing communications have been top notch. Special shout out to Sahil Jain to get on a video call and explain everything and also making the on-boarding seamless.

I am rooting for you guys – Deepak Shenoy & Team (Obviously, it goes without saying that a lot of my money is now with you)

If you have read this and considering investing with Capital Mind, please say you were referred by me & help me make Rs. 10k as referral fee 😉

Here’s a link to their portfolio performance.

Metier / Skills

I constantly look at upgrading my skills. Unfortunately, didn’t have much time to learn anything new this month.

Wait, I did attend a workshop organised by my dear friend Aanand Mehta of YTWT Prosperity Partners LLP at Satkar Residency, Thane. Honestly, I went there for free breakfast, but stayed back for the entire session.

You can’t see me in this pic, cause I clicked it.

The session was conducted by Mr. Ajay Kedia and was quite insightful in terms of long-term investment choices and how to go about picking the right stocks, when to enter and when to exit markets. I learned about some new technical indicators:

Obviously, I am not a trader nor do I look at these indexes, but its knowledge after all. I’ll park this in some corner of my mind (and forget it soon).

Shameless plug for a friend: If you are looking to invest and get good returns, reach out to me and I’ll put you in touch with my school friend Aanand Mehta (bhai, I have mentioned you twice in this blog , please give me a referral commission!).

I learned one more thing – Actually, my son Ahan taught me how to put text behind an image in Canva. He is smart! I made the feautured photo of this blog using this Canva trick!

Marital Life / Wife & Kids + Family

August 26 is Mrs’ Birthday. Had to make it special!

Being a Monday, kids were at school. I had booked Foo, Viviana Mall, Thane via Eazy Diner a day prior. We were the only one seated at 12.30 pm and a few others arrived later.

Fancy Asian food, with an Indian touch. Just like Chineese food is no longer Chinese when its served at an Indian restaurant – it becomes Indo-chineese; ditto with some Japanese & Thai food we tried at Foo.

The icing on the cake was the ice-cream with Hazelnut dome cake (we got a free dessert as we booked via Eazy Diner – Sachin Pabreja, thank me for the backlink later).

Later in evening we did end up ordering chineese food for frands from our local favorite Vaibhav Chineese via Swiggy. Also, blueberry cheesecake from Hangout Cakes & More, Viviana Mall.

Yadi yeh dosti gehri hai, ya yeh photos 3D hai.

Me / Friends & Fun

I am clearly not working that much and taking a lot of vacations, not.

Ok, I took a short break for the Independence Day long-weekend and we traveled to Indore with Sri & Aditi. We met friends from Casa Royale, Thane (Nupur & Sougata) in Indore.

Came back with some memories and additional calories.

I have published a blog on my exploration of Ujjain, Omkareshwar & Indore . Do give it a read!

P.S. Srinivasan Radhakrishnan – if you are bored of white snow in Boston, India (and we) are waiting for you, Come back permanently!

C’est la vie August’24. On to more life in September!

Oh, hang on. Call to action (CTA) coming up as promised.
